During a career in academic research, Earl Liao was always baking and cooking as a way to alleviate stress. So, in 2017, he followed his passion by enrolling in the Program of Professional Pastry Arts at International Culinary Center in New York City. Since then, he has been working at several restaurants and bakeries in the city.

Earl is fascinated by the beauty, delicacy and myriad varieties of pastry and sweets. He also believes that desserts are made to be shared—they are meant to deliver joy and raise up the celebratory moment. Through his online store, Earl wishes to share his joy and passion with you.

In Italian, Trombone e Gatto means “Daffodil and Cat.” This store name and its logo are inspired by Tom and Earl’s pet cat—named Daffodil—who spent her beautiful 19 years with them. In the happy spirit of Daffodil, Trombone e Gatto also denotes Earl’s dream bakery cafe—a venue with a skylight window, comfortable seating and delicious food.
